Brand Identity Research / 2008 – 2009


Linfield College needed to develop an institutional platform that would define and communicate its core strengths across its diverse programs and campuses; including a liberal arts campus, a nursing program campus, and an adult online degree program.

Discovery Collaborative conducted a multi-phase study which began with research and a communications audit. Results from the audit were presented in a Discovery Workshop – a highly interactive work session with over 40 key staff and faculty. This work session allowed us to collectively identify what Linfield's leadership saw as its key strengths and weaknesses, and to confirm the appropriate follow on research methodology and scope needed to fill information gaps.

After the workshop session, Discovery Collaborative conducted qualitative research, both online and in-person focus groups, and qualitative research, both online and in-person focus groups, followed by a web survey among students, alumni, prospective students, parents, faculty, and staff.

The final deliverable to Linfield College synthesized the research results from 11 distinct audiences into a single institutional brand platform, with supporting messages for Linfield's top programs.
